About the Role:
We are recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN/SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist and inclusive primary school in the Harrow area. The school caters to students aged 3 to 11 with a wide range of special educational needs, including physical disabilities and additional learning and communication needs.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ academic, social, and personal development, providing 1:1 or small group support and assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 or small group support, particularly for students with complex physical and additional needs
Assist with mobility, personal care, and use of specialised techniques, with training provided if required
Support students in accessing a broad, balanced curriculum and help them achieve their learning goals
Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management
Support students during break and lunch times
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals to meet EHCP outcomes
Build strong, trusting relationships with students to promote their independence and wellbeing
Follow safeguarding protocols and prioritise student safety
Person Specification:
Previous experience working with children with SEN or in school settings is preferred
Calm, patient, and proactive approach to behaviour management and student support
Confidence or willingness to assist with personal care or medical routines
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
Commitment to safeguarding and maintaining confidentiality
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through us
