Behaviour Support Assistant

Job Title: Behaviour Mentor
Location: Salford
Pay: £101.40–£110 per day
Contract: Full-time | Term-time only | Long-term opportunity

About the Role

Milk Education are working with a specialist SEMH school in Salford to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Mentor. This role involves supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop positive behaviour strategies.

The position is ideal for individuals with experience in youth work, coaching, care, mentoring, or education, who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour support to pupils

2. Build positive, trusting relationships with students who may display challenging behaviour

3. Support students in managing emotions, behaviour, and engagement in learning

4. Assist teachers in delivering structured lessons and behaviour interventions

5. Promote a safe and supportive learning environment

6. Monitor and report progress to teaching staff and pastoral teams

The Ideal Candidate

7. Experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs

8. Strong communication and behaviour management skills

9. Patient, resilient, and able to build positive relationships

10. Passionate about supporting pupils with SEMH needs

11. Able to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations

Desirable Experience

12. Previous work in SEMH schools, PRUs, or alternative provisions

13. Background in youth work, sports coaching, care work, or mentoring

14. Behaviour management or Team Teach training
