About the role
We’re looking for a Commercial Assistant who can combine strong commercial skills with a values‑led, collaborative approach. You’ll support our Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management team across repairs, compliance and planned investment, helping us deliver safe, high‑quality and value‑for‑money services for residents.
This role plays an important part in maintaining commercial governance, accurate financial reporting and effective contract management across our housing portfolio.
What you’ll do
1. Support commercial activity across repairs, compliance (M&E) and planned investment contracts.
2. Assist with monthly financial forecasts, cost analysis, CVRs and budget monitoring.
3. Help price works using first principles and benchmarking.
4. Prepare and issue commercial and contractual notices, including payment documentation.
5. Maintain accurate, audit‑ready commercial and contract records.
6. Support financial analysis, including PPP exclusions and contract‑specific reporting.
7. Use and interpret schedules of rates, including NHF SoR.
8. Contribute to continuous improvement of commercial and contract management processes.
9. Build positive working relationships with colleagues and contractors.
What you’ll bring
10. Experience supporting commercial or quantity surveying work in construction or social housing.
11. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
12. Confidence analysing commercial and financial data.
13. Experience producing or supporting financial reports or CVRs.
14. Clear, professional communication and a collaborative approach.
15. High attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.
16. (Desirable) Knowledge of NHF SoR, social housing maintenance, or client/contractor‑side experience.
Qualifications
17. 5+ years’ relevant experience in a commercial or construction environment.
18. HNC/HND in Construction or Quantity Surveying
