Overview:We are seeking an experienced Nexus Engineer with active DV clearance to support a secure MOD data centre upgrade project based in London. This role will involve the implementation, migration, and optimisation of Cisco Nexus infrastructure, specifically across the 5K, 7K, and 9K switch series within a sensitive and highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and deploy Cisco Nexus 5K, 7K, and 9K switches within a secure MOD data centre.
- Execute data centre migration and infrastructure upgrade activities while adhering to MOD security protocols.
- Work closely with network architects, project managers, and security teams to ensure compliance with classified environment standards.
- Conduct detailed troubleshooting and resolve complex issues in real time during migration and post-deployment.
- Maintain detailed technical documentation and contribute to handover to BAU support teams.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Active DV clearance (mandatory).
- Prior experience working in a Ministry of Defence or classified government environment.
- In-depth hands-on knowledge of Cisco Nexus 5K, 7K, and 9K series switches.
- Strong expertise in networking fundamentals: Layer 2/3, VDCs, vPC, FabricPath, OTV.
- Demonstrable experience in large-scale data centre migrations and upgrades.
- Familiarity with strict change control processes and secure infrastructure environments.
Desirable:
- Cisco certifications such as CCNP Data Centre or CCIE DC.
- Exposure to automation tools like Ansible or Python for network provisioning.
- Understanding of hybrid or cloud-integrated architectures in a secure context.
