Purpose of Role
We are currently seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join our team at Sir Thomas Wharton Academy in Doncaster.
Job Description
As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation and maintenance of the school site.
Working on a rotating shift pattern
Week 1: 6:00am – 2:00pm
Week 2: 10:30am – 6:30pm
Responsibilities
* Opening and securing the school premises
* Conducting daily checks and basic maintenance/repair tasks
* Supporting with health & safety and fire safety compliance
* Setting up rooms for school events or meetings
* Liaising with contractors and managing on-site works
* Responding to emergency situations and ensuring safe environments for pupils, staff, and visitors
Essential Qualifications/Skills
* Previous caretaking, site maintenance, or facilities experience preferred
* Strong awareness of Health & Safety regulations
* Good communication and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Basic DIY and maintenance skills (electrical/plumbing/painting desirable)
* A DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
