Town and Community Planning Specialist (Telco or Construction Industry)

About the Role:
1. The main purpose of this role is to work collaboratively with Head of Town Planning and Planning and Community Managers to deliver and implement the Company's Town & Country (T&C) Planning and Community Consultation policies, processes and governance.
2. You will provide technical support to relevant Customer teams and Suppliers to maximise planning consent delivery across multiple programs. Supplier management is key.
3. You will drive LPA engagement at a site specific and strategic level, assist with site selection/design advice and attend MSVs etc as necessary.
4. Relationship building and strategy with LPAs, ‘Digital Champions’ and local stakeholders will be a key part of the role.
5. You will be required to take pro-active ownership of delivery workstreams and work collaboratively with key stakeholders to drive strategy and relationships with LPAs and other local stakeholders, influence local and regional telecommunications policy/guidance to provide a positive policy environment for telecommunications development (Barrier Busting Initiatives) to assist in maximizing Planning delivery.
6. You will be the point of escalation for suppliers on planning issues and provide a Consultancy role on key town planning and community issues as and will provide upward reporting on the progress of key programs to the Head of Town Planning and Planning and Community Managers.
What is needed for the Role:
1. Project Management Qualification
2. Associate Member of Royal Town Planning Institute or equivalent
3. Full UK driving license and access to own car
4. Expert in Town & Country Planning Legislation across all UK nations, understanding the legislation, policy and guidance related to telecommunications and associated developments
5. Understanding of the external political environment and political developments as they affect telecommunications and mobile infrastructure – ability to identify threats and opportunities.
6. Understanding the nuances of each UK nation planning system, specifically related to telecommunications infrastructure.
7. Experience in managing enforcement cases.
8. Significant experience within telecommunications or similar industry with multiple interfaces both within and external to the company
9. Previous experience in managing external suppliers, setting KPIs and SLAs and benchmarking performance.
10. Previous experience in delivering against a set of key deliverables in a dynamic work environment.
11. Experience of dealing national and local elected representatives and officials, NGOs and lobby groups
