SEMH Support Assistant – Scunthorpe
Location: Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire
Salary: £85 – £95 per day
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time only
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Support Assistant to join a specialist provision in Scunthorpe supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a passion for supporting students who may have experienced trauma, face behavioural challenges, or require emotional support to succeed in their education.
Your Role Will Include:
* Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
* Supporting classroom management and promoting positive behaviour strategies
* Building trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and emotional development
* Assisting with individualised learning programmes and behaviour support plans
* Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs (school, youth work, or care background welcome)
* A calm, empathetic, and confident approach to challenging situations
* Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and trauma-informed practice
* A valid Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply through GSL Education
* A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students
