Personal Wellbeing Mentor

Salary: £24,806 plus benefits

Location: HMP Leeds / HMP Wealstun and Wakefield / Leeds probation offices. This role involves regular travel between sites; own transport is required.

Rebuilding your life after prison is one of the toughest challenges a person can face. But with the right support, it's possible. That's where you come in.

We're looking for a Personal Wellbeing Mentor—someone with a rare mix of compassion, resilience, organisation, and flexibility. Someone who understands that rehabilitation isn't just about offering advice; it's about rolling up your sleeves and proactively supporting someone on their journey.

You will work in a challenging environment with people who have complex needs and may be reluctant to engage. But when you help someone break the cycle and take real steps toward transforming their life, it’s a great feeling.

About the Role:

You will support individuals as they transition from prison back into the community. Through one-to-one support and group sessions, you will cover topics such as health and well-being, goal setting, and personal development to help them rebuild their lives.

Your support doesn’t stop at release—you will continue to assist individuals in accessing vital services, such as registering with a GP, securing mental health support, setting up a bank account, and connecting with community groups—being there every step of the way.

What You’ll Be Doing:

1. Action Planning: Formulate detailed action plans to shape the support they receive post-release, identifying needs and barriers, and helping them reintegrate through practical well-being activities.
2. Caseload Management: Manage multiple individuals, balancing their needs while handling administrative tasks.
3. Advocacy and Signposting: Support participants to engage with key services.
4. Quality Recording: Keep thorough, up-to-date records of all work on our IT system to track progress.
5. Group Delivery: Set up and deliver engaging sessions in small groups.

What We’re Looking For:

1. Relationship Building: Ability to connect with participants, probation services, and external stakeholders in a genuine, trust-promoting, non-judgemental manner.
2. Safeguarding Awareness: Support complex individuals at challenging times and identify safeguarding risks, with full support for challenging interventions.
3. IT and Administrative Skills: Keep meticulous records of interactions to measure progress and ensure effective interventions.
4. Resilience: Persistence in a role that can be challenging, understanding that results may take time.

What We Offer:

At Ingeus, we listen to our employees and have developed a benefits package supporting your personal and professional well-being, including:

* 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with options to trade for additional leave.
* EAP Support programme available 24/7, including 6 free counselling sessions.
* Private medical insurance and life assurance.
* Up to 2 days of Community Giving (volunteering) annually to support causes important to you.
* Eyecare vouchers for glasses or eye care.
* Exclusive discounts via Perks at Work.
* Cycle to Work scheme and travel season ticket loan.
* Long service awards to celebrate your commitment.
* Salary Finance offering financial education and advice.
* The opportunity to purchase extra benefits like critical illness cover and dental insurance.

While we welcome applications from those with lived experience, this role requires an enhanced Level 1 DBS check. During the DBS processing time, you will have opportunities to shadow colleagues, ask questions, and learn the role.

At Ingeus, our Justice division is dedicated to transforming lives and creating safer communities. Our mission is to reduce reoffending, build stronger communities, and help people realize their potential.
