About the Role:
The SpaceLead is seeking a highly motivated Operations Specialist for a pioneering UK startup backed by leading institutions. Our client, operating in stealth mode, is developing advanced technology to enable next-generation in-orbit services and satellite operations.
As a foundational member of the team, you will be responsible for building and managing the core operational functions that enable a world-class engineering team to thrive. This is a unique opportunity to shape the operational backbone of a future leader in the space technology sector from its early stages.
What You'll Do:
* Design and implement the company's core operational systems and workflows to support rapid scaling.
* Manage the full procurement lifecycle for all hardware, software, and services, including supplier negotiation, IT asset tracking, and software license management.
* Oversee key people operations, including new hire onboarding, contract management, benefits administration, and maintaining confidential records.
* Handle day-to-day financial administration by processing invoices, managing expenses, and serving as the primary liaison with external accountants.
* Support grant applications and manage the administrative reporting required for key government funding bodies.
* Act as the central point of contact for administrative matters, coordinating with external legal counsel and organizing team events to foster a collaborative culture.
What You'll Need:
* Proven experience in an operations, office management, or senior administrative role, preferably within a dynamic tech startup environment.
* Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
* A proactive, self-starting attitude with the ability to work independently and take ownership of building systems from scratch.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the company.
* The ability to handle confidential information with complete discretion.
* Experience with procurement, vendor management, and basic HR/finance administration is highly desirable.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
What Our Client Offers:
* A competitive salary and meaningful equity package.
* The opportunity to work on groundbreaking technology for the space sector.
* Flexible, hybrid working arrangements.
* A generous budget for professional development and a wellness/lifestyle stipend.
* A key role in shaping company culture and strategy from the ground up.
* Private health insurance and a statutory pension scheme.
