Specialist Occupational Therapist
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist post within the Rural Alliance Care Community Team based in Chowley Oak as part of an integrated care team.
This part‑time post is 30 hours per week. The role involves delivering occupational therapy services to patients in their own homes within rural Cheshire, working alongside 5 GP practices and an integrated care team. You will assess, treat, supervise, and educate, and will support patients to remain in community while facilitating rehabilitation.
Main duties of the job
* Deliver a high‑quality Occupational Therapy service to patients with complex rehabilitation needs as a specialist practitioner.
* Work autonomously, and as part of a multidisciplinary team, communicating with health and social care agencies to meet patient needs and plan effective care.
* Participate in departmental in‑service training, journal club, and CPD activities to further develop clinical skills and share knowledge with colleagues.
* Provide supervision, teaching and support to senior and junior staff, assistant staff and act as a clinical educator for undergraduate students.
Qualifications
* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
* Evidence of relevant post‑graduate courses.
* HCPC registration.
* Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapy (RCOT).
Knowledge and Expertise
* Knowledge of Occupational Therapy theoretical frames of reference in line with evidence‑based practice.
* Knowledge of professional guidelines and codes of conduct.
* Critical appraisal skills.
* Knowledge of Trust and Services policies and procedures.
* Evidence of CPD and portfolio demonstrating interest in a specialist area.
* Commitment to continuous professional development.
* Access to transport for work purposes.
* Adherence to the Code of Ethics and Professional Standards of the HCPC.
Experience
* Minimum of 2 years post‑graduate experience across relevant fields.
* Commitment to training and development.
* Reflective practice.
* Experience of student clinical supervision.
* Experience of day‑to‑day supervision of Band 5 and/or support staff.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
Submission for Disclosure and Barring Service is required as per the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
Salary and Benefits
£39,959 to £48,117 per annum pro‑rata, part‑time 30 hours per week.
