Summary and purpose of position:
Lead Transport and Fleet Change Projects in keeping the depot legally compliant (safe and legal) by managing and reviewing compliance activities across Transport and Fleet (including MHE). Demonstrate a leadership approach that promotes an inclusive culture, leading to high levels of trust which drives a high performing team whilst also meeting legal, KPI and budgetary targets.

Duties and responsibilities:
1. Lead widescale Transport Change projects to support design and implementation
2. Work with Strategy and Change teams on Transport related projects, feeding this through to the depot
3. Engage in regular dialogue to understand the changes coming down the line across an annual horizon in understanding the depot impact and feedback on process improvements
4. Work with Head of Transport and Central Planning Team to identify opportunities for further transport optimisation, understanding the balance between service and cost
5. Manage the depot compliance in all areas and any areas of non-compliance produce an action plan to rectify working with the relevant department leads
6. Keep up-to-date with and understand existing Transport and Fleet legislative requirements and review processes to support operational adherence
7. Work with Central Teams to maintain & support implementation of compliance changes
8. Accountable for compliance adherence across:Operational process compliance (liaising with Reporting & Insights team)Fleet compliance – including vehicle downloads, driver hours, fleet servicing, mots, LOLER, tachograph, accident management (including trend analysis) and damage reduction plansMHE Compliance – including safety inspections, LOLER testing & insurance inspectionsTransport compliance – including tachograph infringement management and Working Time Directive adherence. Supporting the Operational team with identifying driver non-compliance to log on / log off and break timings. Driver licence checks and digi card downloads. Work with Driver Trainers to ensure correct adherence to training standards and oversee compliance of RTITB Driver TrainersEnsure adherence to LLCS routes
9. Present information on Transport and Fleet compliance risks, concerns or changes
10. Work together with our H&S team in instances of H&S and Transport/Fleet/MHE compliance overlap such as audit and investigations
11. Coordinate Logistics UK audit (supplying information and assisting auditors), accountable to maintain/improve depot compliance standard
12. Manage business continuity
13. Responsible for the day-to-day people management for direct reports
14. Support in sharing best compliance practice across the network and site
15. Manage the Union Relationship on site around Transport and Fleet, ER / IR Strategy
16. Ensures that the ‘customer’ is at the centre of every decision-making process so that the needs of the depot and the stores we serve are balanced to do the right thing for the ‘customer’ every time
17. Operate within legislation, policy and process in all matters ranging from people management to safety, health and environment
18. Support the People Plan and accurate colleague life cycle through use of the HR business model
Experience, Skills, and Attributes
19. CPC certificate required
20. Strong practical Logistics Transport/Fleet/MHE knowledge and demonstrable experience in a similar role
21. Have a detailed understanding of the relevant legislation, policy and process in all matters relating to your working location and be able to apply this, including Health & Safety, Trade Union legislation and Employment Law
22. An interest in continuous development in understanding current ‘best practice’ within the Transport industry which can support optimising the Transport function
23. Experienced in data analytics
24. Positive approach in leading change and are effective in dealing with resistance
25. Be able to effectively prioritise what is adding value to the ‘end goal’ and cut out the rest
26. Manage and maintain strong collaborative working relationships and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders across a variety of levels with the confidence to challenge and influence
27. Ability to lead, engage and inspire others in order to deliver successful results
28. Confident in making critical time-pressured decisions in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment

32. Knowledge of transport & Fleet systems. transport scheduling tools, tachomaster, fleet systems
33. Experienced in end-to-end project management
