This exciting new post is a great opportunity for someone with extensive experience of working with people who have mental health difficulties which are co-morbid with physical health problems. The successful candidate, in addition to holding a small caseload, will take a lead in the design, governance and implementation of psychological interventions for this cohort of patients within our primary care service and across wider psychology services. The successful applicant will become a key member of the Renew team, supporting and when required deputising for the Consultant Clinical Psychologist. Renew our primary care psychology service is managed by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and is comprised of; an 8B Senior Psychologist, 4x 8a Clinical/Counselling Psychologists, 10 x CAAPs, 1xMental Health Practitioner, 3x PIATSs and 4 x Assistant Psychologists; providing assessment and treatment to primary care patients with mental health needs. We are looking for a suitably qualified psychologist who has experience of offering expert guidance, consultation, teaching, training and supervision in clinical health psychology. The successful candidate will have significant experience of working psychologically with people who have physical health problems and experience and interest in the use of quality improvement methodology to provide leadership and support change. It is essential that the post holder has considerable experience of providing clinical supervision to trainee and qualified psychologists as well as professionals from other disciplines. NHS Borders Psychology Service is a dynamic and supportive service which aims to offer delivery, training and supervision in psychological therapies to the population of NHS Borders. The Scottish Borders area is largely rural with a population of approximately 115,000 people. We are in easy reach of Edinburgh – with many of our staff based in the capital. The recent addition of the Tweedbank rail service from Edinburgh to Tweedbank an attractive commute. The Scottish Borders is a lovely area to live in, with excellent schools, abundant local amenities and superb leisure facilities, and good quality affordably housing, providing ideal opportunities for a high quality of life in this scenic part of the country.
