CGC Event Caterers are recruiting for a Senior Events Manager to join the team at York Racecourse. Often catering for up to 40,000 racegoers on a race day and hosting a wide variety of premier non-race day events, the Senior Events Manager will take charge and ensure a smooth delivery of both C&E and Racing days to the highest standard. This role revolves around managing the F&B team and overseeing all aspects of the racecourse's events services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Manage the management team to ensure all non-race day events are fully set up and delivered to a high standard.
* Oversee and manage retail, conference, and banqueting events as allocated by the Head of F&B.
* Coordinate with the Head of F&B and sales office on scheduling the management team for each event.
* Manage & develop the C&E SOPs, ensuring all events are delivered accordingly.
* Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of FOH & BOH areas for C&E events.
* Work within the P&L parameters to meet targets set by the Head of F&B.
* Handle till programming, floats, reports, and cash reconciliation post-event.
* Ensure accurate and prompt invoicing and billing for all events.
* Manage staffing, recruitment, and onboarding for C&E service staff.
* Adhere to company policies on cash handling and procedures.
* Ensure compliance with food hygiene legislation and health & safety regulations, including staff training.
* Liaise with all departments to ensure smooth event operations and uphold high standards.
* Understand market trends to develop and enhance our offerings.
* Work with the head chef to develop retail & C&E menus.
* Deliver role-specific training to the management team.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

* Minimum 5 years of banqueting management experience.
* Experience in an event-based environment.
* Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making ability.
* Willingness to perform manual handling tasks.
* Hands-on approach and active participation in service delivery.
* Thorough understanding of food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
* Good IT skills.
* Desire to learn and develop your career.
* Personal license holder.
* Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
