An outstanding and award-winning group of Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (Deputy DSL) to join the permanent staff team at their Ormskirk site, starting in September 2025.

The Role
The Deputy DSL will support the Designated Safeguarding Lead in ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding are maintained across the school. This is a vital role for an individual passionate about safeguarding, inclusion, and the rights of young people. The post-holder will be instrumental in managing safeguarding referrals, liaising with external agencies, and ensuring policy and practice are embedded throughout the school community.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Supporting the DSL in all aspects of safeguarding and child protection.
* Acting as a point of contact for safeguarding concerns in the DSL’s absence.
* Maintaining accurate and confidential records using safeguarding software.
* Supporting the development and delivery of safeguarding training for staff.
* Ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory safeguarding obligations.
* Working closely with pastoral, teaching, and support staff to promote a safe, inclusive environment.
* Liaising with external agencies and professionals as required.
* Proven experience in a safeguarding role within an education or care setting.
* In-depth understanding of current safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance.
* Experience working with children and young people with SEN and/or complex needs.
* Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
* Commitment to upholding the highest standards of child protection and welfare.
* Experience as a Deputy DSL or DSL in a school setting.
* Previous work in a specialist or SEN provision.
* Knowledge of safeguarding software (e.g., CPOMS, MyConcern).
