Lead Energy Costing Analyst

Purpose of the job
Working as part of the Energy Costing & Pricing team (12 FTEs) within the Commercial Department this role will support ENGIE to:
* Achieve an acceptable, managed and mitigated level of exposure to costs and risks associated with commodity and third party charges, while providing a competitive price in the market for both downstream and upstream customers.
* Realise our ambitions of supplying 100% green power by 2029 and continue to grow our portfolio.
Key Accountabilities
* Ability to frame and simplify complex system interactions between the CRM, CPQ and other systems.
* Acts as a key custodian of costing and pricing modelling standards, ensuring a framework that is effectively implemented and operated across the business.
* Adhere to and develop internal processes, policies and risk frameworks.
* Develop, maintain and improve models for cost and risk exposure analysis, cost forecasting, premium determination and pricing calculations, ensuring pricing friction is kept to target levels.
* Be a key player in our transition away from Excel and into Dataiku.
* Design next‑generation cost forecasting models, set modelling standards and lead improvements to business processes relating to the non‑commodity cost forecasting.
* Ensure appropriate communication to senior management and the wider business of issues/solutions, regulatory changes and updates.
* Grow knowledge of others through being an approachable Subject Matter Expert within the Energy Costing team.
* Communicating cost change notifications to key stakeholders.
* Designing and delivering training programmes to upskill those within the Energy Costing team and the wider business.
* Sharing experiences through coaching and mentoring as part of the Commercial mentoring programme.
* Influence senior management in their decision‑making on topics related to non‑commodity cost components.
* Lead the conceptual design of new costing and pricing frameworks to support emerging regulatory, commercial or operational requirements.
* Maintain costing and pricing related data in relevant systems (Gorilla, Juniper, SalesForce).
* Monitor and understand the regulatory landscape, assess impacts of industry change on pricing methodologies and cost forecasts, and communicate and contribute to resolution of any issues.
* Provide expert guidance across all upstream and downstream costing and pricing activities.
* Report on Economic Accounting Gap and KPIs to enable effective management of costs and charges, and propose action plans to maintain them within acceptable parameters.
* Shape strategic discussions by providing insight on cost drivers, portfolio impacts and long‑term modelling considerations.
* Strategic thinking with strong commercial acumen to balance competitive pricing with cost recovery.
* Support strategic costing and pricing activity across ENGIE’s full UK energy portfolio, ensuring consistent approaches across diverse customer groups, products and commercial structures.
Outcome, Results and Key Performance Indicators
* Assess impact of market and regulatory changes on pricing policies/methods.
* Collect and analyse cost/market/regulatory data and propose timely updates to cost recovery forecasts and risk premiums.
* Ensure data correctly ingested into quoting and pricing systems.
* Ensure costing and pricing analytical outputs reliably inform enterprise‑wide decisions covering key commercial, financial and regulatory topics.
* Gross and Net Economic Accounting Gap, and coordinate actions to resolve them.
* Prepare internal governance papers for significant changes to pricing policies/methods.
* Propose improvements to policy and methodology to improve risk management, competitiveness and effectiveness.
* Support and advise the wider business on bespoke price requests and large/complex quotations/tenders, resolution of data/price validation exceptions, ad‑hoc queries on pricing.
* Regularly analyse effectiveness of pricing policies/methods (e.g., pricing competitiveness).
* Regularly contribute to shaping cost‑recovery strategy and long‑term methodological direction with advanced modelling insights and scenario‑based evaluations.
* Support colleagues within the Pricing Team and department.
* Recover revenues in line with costs.
* Provide appropriate level of query management and support to the wider business for the catalogue of existing products and new propositions for gas/power and upstream/downstream.

* Changes to this can be explored should the successful candidate want to develop line management experience at a later date.
* This role is available as a full‑time position or can be tailored to a 4‑day week for the right candidate.

Knowledge and skills
Hard Skills
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including VBA.
* PowerBI.
* SQL.
* Python – Proven experience developing Jupyter notebooks and .py scripts for ad‑hoc reporting and routine tasks.
* Experience with Git and environment management.

* Experience of retail pricing techniques and systems would be highly advantageous.
* Experience of coaching, mentoring or training others.
* Proven ability to undertake analysis of complex problems using regression, time‑series analysis and scenario simulations.
Qualifications
* The ideal candidate will have a degree level qualification in an analytical discipline, or specific related experience.
