Location: HMP Bronzefield, Ashford (Hybrid – some home working)
Pay Rate: £16 – £18 per hour
Hours: Part-Time, approx. 21 hours per week
Contract: 3 months minimum
Job Description
A rewarding opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Prison & Probation Advocate to join the Prison Services team on a temporary basis. You will support women in custody at HMP Bronzefield, providing trauma-informed casework and pre-release planning. This role focuses on helping women address resettlement needs such as accommodation, finance and benefits, family relationships, and social inclusion. You will deliver one-to-one casework, co-design personalised action plans, and provide “through-the-gate” support to link women with community services upon release. Working in partnership with Offender Management and other prison-based agencies, you will play a vital role in empowering women to reduce reoffending and rebuild their lives.
Key Responsibilities
Provide casework support for women on remand and unsentenced.
Develop and deliver pre-release action plans tailored to individual needs.
Support women with housing, benefits, debt advice, and family contact.
Liaise with prison staff and partner agencies to ensure effective referrals.
Maintain accurate records and manage a caseload to deadlines.Requirements
Experience within the criminal justice system or a related support service.
Knowledge of trauma-informed, gender-specific interventions.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work effectively in a prison environment with professionalism.
Enhanced DBS check and HMPPS vetting required.
