Overview
Head of Design Organisation (HDO) role at Draken. The Head of Design Organisation will report to the VP Engineering and is responsible for the professional leadership of the Initial Airworthiness Design Office, direct reporting staff and associated support staff, in accordance with applicable aviation regulations and international standards. This role can be based out of Teesside or Bournemouth.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic business leadership and operational accountability for the Design Office, delivering business objectives through planning and directing the activities of multiple engineering teams.
* Hold all design-related Accountable Manager (CEO) posts and ensure resources are available and the Design Office operates in accordance with civil and military aviation requirements.
* Ensure compliance with applicable Aviation Regulations and International Standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001) at all times in all areas under the Design Office.
* Maintain up-to-date regulatory expositions, procedures, and documentation to best industry standards.
* Maintain robust First and Second Lines of Defence for Compliance (Quality) monitoring across the Design Office.
* Provide guidance and support to the Design Office Direct Reporting Team and other departments as requested; ensure personnel are equipped, trained and competent.
* Drive an enhanced safety and compliance culture; foster continuous improvement; encourage ethical and professional behaviour.
* Identify and develop personnel goals, nurture talent, manage succession planning, and build resilience across the Design Office.
Experience / Skills / Qualifications
* Expert knowledge of Commercial Aircraft Management principles and practices.
* Extensive industry experience in a similar role (required).
* Expert theoretical and practical knowledge of CAA/EASA and Military Aviation Regulations (Part 21, DAOS, Part 145) (required).
* Practical knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 applicable to aviation (required).
* Practical knowledge of Safety Management System principles in aviation (required).
* Demonstrable People and Cultural Change Management experience (required).
* Engineering Degree (required).
* Postgraduate level Business/Management qualification (advantageous).
* Ability to hold Regulatory Accountable Manager / CEO responsibility for DOA, DAOS and DAOS-CDO (required).
* Able to hold Security Check (SC) level clearance (required); Developing Vetting (DV) clearance (required).
* Experience as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) (required); Fellow of a Professional Engineering Institution (advantageous); Chartered Engineer (CEng) (advantageous).
* Practical knowledge of the Company’s technology use and services delivered (advantageous).
