Teaching Assistant – Special Needs Support

Salary: £13.75 per hour
A well-regarded school in Winchester is seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to join their team supporting children with special educational needs. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
The school provides specialised education tailored to children with a range of complex needs, including physical disabilities, learning difficulties, and communication challenges. The successful candidates will work closely with teachers and therapists to support individual pupils, helping them access the curriculum and develop essential skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting children with special needs during lessons and activities
Assisting in the implementation of personalised learning plans
Encouraging social, emotional, and behavioural development
Supporting communication and interaction through various techniques
Maintaining a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
A valid Child Workforce DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one at own expense
Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
Experience working with children with special needs is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
