Overview
We are looking for an individual to work with the diabetes podiatry service at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, potentially across 10 locations. This is an exciting developmental opportunity.
Be responsible for the management of a caseload of high risk patients, providing a comprehensive assessment of podiatric need, relevant health education and referral to other health care professionals as required. The post involves acting as the Clinical Specialist Podiatrist in the field of Diabetes and wound care for both Primary and Secondary Care as part of a Multi-disciplinary Team providing cover for the team. The role includes home visits for housebound patients.
Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of high-risk podiatry patients with comprehensive assessment and appropriate health education.
* Act as the Clinical Specialist Podiatrist in Diabetes and wound care for Primary and Secondary Care as part of a Multi-disciplinary Team; provide cover for the team.
* Carry out home visits for housebound patients.
* Plan, monitor day-to-day clinical workload, manage waiting lists and clinically prioritise patients.
* Maintain HCPC registration and hold a degree/diploma in Podiatry and local analgesia administration certificate.
* Attend and contribute to departmental and team meetings.
* Identify low stock items and request stock as required.
* Provide clinical leadership, advice and support on diabetes to other podiatrists and health care professionals.
* Maintain accurate clinical records of all patient consultations and related work in accordance with Professional Standards and Trust policy.
Qualifications
* Proven record of excellence in providing diabetes podiatry and ability to function as a sole podiatry practitioner.
* Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team and highly developed clinical skills.
* Experience in managing high-risk caseloads in both in-patient and out-patient settings; teaching and undertaking research work.
* Willingness to work with community podiatry teams to provide seamless service.
