Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus
Salary / Benefits: £33,048 - £38,169 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. Includes 45 days annual leave, bank holidays, Teacher's Pension, retail and leisure discounts, professional and personal development opportunities, and access to college courses.
Hours / Weeks: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.
Contract Type: Permanent, full-time.

About the role
Lecturer in English, part of the English and Maths department, The Bedford College Group. Key responsibilities include:
* Deliver inclusive, engaging English teaching across a range of levels and programmes, enabling learners to achieve strong outcomes and progress to positive destinations.
* Assess and track learner progress, provide timely feedback and tutorials, and promote positive behaviour, attendance and independent learning.
* Contribute to curriculum innovation and review, participate in quality assurance processes, and support continuous improvement aligned to Ofsted EIF, funding priorities and skills needs.
* Collaborate with colleagues, learning coaches, employers and stakeholders, promoting equality, diversity, inclusion and British values.
* Complete administrative duties, support marketing and recruitment events, engage in CPD, uphold safeguarding, health & safety and college policies, and undertake additional leadership duties where qualified.
About you
Qualifications and experience:
* Degree or Level 5 qualification in English and Level 5 in GCSE English and maths (Grade 4/C+). Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed) or willingness to achieve.
* Recent experience teaching and assessing GCSE English, strong classroom management, ability to motivate learners and support positive outcomes.
* Skilled in planning and delivering engaging learning using blended and digital approaches, up-to-date with FE reform and developments.
* Highly organised, strong administrative, communication and teamwork skills, able to work across departments and meet deadlines.
* Committed to college values, safeguarding, health & safety, reflective practice, flexible working patterns, full driving licence and access to vehicle.
