Academic Section
The Academic Section provides services to students and departments to support the academic provision of our University. We are looking to appoint an Assessment Officer who will be in our Exams Team which is part of the wider Assessment Team. The primary responsibility of the Assessment Officer is to support the Exams Team in delivering the key services for which the team has responsibility.
We are looking for a professional and enthusiastic individual to join our Exams Team on a permanent basis. The role is 28.8 hours per week.
Duties of the Role
This is an opportunity to work as part of our exams team where you will provide support to students and staff in the preparation and delivery of exams. You will provide frontline support for students via telephone and emails using CRM and in person. You will support the organisation and running of exams throughout the year, liaising with a number of different teams.
There will be opportunities to contribute to improvement projects on how we deliver and organise exams, including developing guidance and communications; providing training; and reviewing procedures.
You will also support the wider assessment team in responding to assessment queries, supporting Exam Boards and the publication of students’ results, and the preparation for graduation and awards.

Qualifications and Skills required
We are looking for someone who has significant experience in a relevant role and who is organised with excellent attention to detail. You will be quick to learn complex policies and procedures, and be confident operating within these and providing advice and guidance. You will take pride in delivering high standards of service and have excellent communication and customer service skills.
You will be confident working in a busy environment with contact with students and a range of colleagues. You will have good, up-to-date IT skills with experience of using databases, although training will be given on our in-house systems.
Hybrid working is available for this post. Outside of exam periods, the team works a minimum of one day a week on the Colchester campus. During exams, the team work on campus to support the delivery of our in-person exams.
