Research Associate in Carbon Nanomaterials for Biomedical Applications
Join the School of Chemical Engineering at UNSW as a Research Associate to conduct cutting‑edge research in nanomaterials. The role involves independent experimentation and collaborative projects, focusing on synthesis, optimisation, characterisation, catalytic analysis and biological testing of carbon nanomaterials. You will contribute to scientific publications, supervise HDR students and engage with industry partners.
Responsibilities
* Conduct research in nanomaterials both independently and as part of a team.
* Design and carry out experiments across synthesis, optimisation, characterisation, catalytic analysis and biological testing of carbon nanomaterials.
* Write scientific papers and reports for international journals and present at conferences and workshops.
* Supervise HDR students and actively engage with industry partners.
Qualifications
* PhD in material science and engineering, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering or nanotechnology‑related area.
* Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations in the relevant field.
* Previous research experience in synthesis, characterisation, catalysis and/or bio‑applications of carbon nanomaterials.
* Proven commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
* Independent research capability with limited supervision.
* Teamwork, collaboration across disciplines and building effective relationships.
* Excellent communication and interaction with stakeholders and students.
* Commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values.
* Understanding of health and safety responsibilities and training.
Compensation and Logistics
* Salary, Level A – $113,911 to $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation.
* Full time, 12‑month fixed‑term contract with possibility to extend.
* Location: Kensington, Sydney, Australia.
