Advanced Allergy Dietitian (Adults and Paediatrics)
What You'll Do: Provide specialist dietary advice at paediatric and adult outpatient clinics as part of the allergy multidisciplinary teams. This includes face-to-face and virtual consultations. Provide specialist dietetic input in the quarterly MDT-led paediatric gastro-allergy clinic, offering expert dietary guidance. Devise protocols and recipes for food challenges on the adult and paediatric day wards. Attend weekly MDT meetings. Provide bespoke advice and support for home reintroductions. Supervise and support band 5 and 6 allergy dietitians. Contribute to student training programmes for dietetic student placements. Provide teaching and training on allergy to dietitians and other health professionals. Lead service developments, audits, QI projects, and research initiatives. Facilitate the transition of patients from paediatric to adult allergy clinics. Request and interpret relevant tests, including skin prick tests, allergy, and nutritional blood tests.
Skills and Experience: We seek a candidate with experience in food allergy. You must be a qualified dietitian registered with the HCPC. You should possess appropriate skills and knowledge related to food allergy, understanding the nutritional challenges faced by children, young people, adults, and their families living with food allergy. A good understanding of prevention and treatment of food allergy is essential, along with the ability to independently plan and prioritise a busy, complex caseload efficiently. Excellent communication skills, empathy, and a holistic approach to care are required. Demonstrate ability to work within an MDT as a highly specialist dietitian, confidently discussing your professional opinions with colleagues. This role suits someone interested in working within a large allergy team, supervising and supporting band 5 and 6 dietitians to achieve relevant competencies.
