Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Behaviour Support Assistant to work with pupils aged 11–16 in a supportive secondary school in Caldicot. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning, especially those with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and challenging behaviour.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with behavioural and emotional needs.
* Use sports and physical activity as a form of behavioural intervention (ideal for candidates with a sporting or coaching background).
* Help pupils develop social skills, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour strategies.
* Collaborate effectively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and support teams.
* Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* A confident, approachable, and positive attitude.
* Experience working with children or young people, especially those with SEN or behaviour challenges.
* Strong behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
* A background in sports coaching, youth work, or mentoring (highly desirable).
* Adaptability, reliability, and the ability to work at short notice when required.
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
* EWC (Education Workforce Council) registration (or willingness to register).
* Two recent references from education or care-related roles.
* Right to work in the UK.
* Completion of Safeguarding Level 2 (provided free of charge).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
