Location: Liskeard Office & on site Role Purpose: The Build coordinator will be responsible for monitoring the onsite delivery of a Full Fibre network. Assuring the engineering teams are working to best practice, quality and the required safety standards at all times. Responsible for civils and fibre construction activities they will provide a point of escalation and subject matter knowledge to the engineering resource to assist with issue resolution in real time. They will assess the viability of the project delivery plans and provide expertise to ensure that the delivery projects are completed to the best possible standard, within budget and in the most effective way. Main Responsibilities: Safety - Be responsible for your own safety and aware of the safety of your colleagues and general public by fully complying with all procedures within the Health and Safety Policy. Complete safety training and adopt a zero accident mentality. Conduct site audits. Ensure the supply partner has sufficient and suitable risk assessments / method statements to carry out their works safely, Work with SHEQ and Compliance teams to ensure both safety and quality in the network and reporting 2-way feedback and Contractor whereabouts. Quality and Cost - Ensure all work on site is carried out to adequate standards; node Audits and L2C checks (SNN), Capture daily measures to validate works completed by the supply partner, High Cost civils solutions and Civils validation and complete all mandatory compliance training within required timescales. Governance and Fluidity - Ensure and monitor effective site operations and coordination of the works via LA, Streetworks, Traffic Management and Build Partners. Ensure all documentation is checked and completed accordingly, coordinate build activities alongside the Project Professional highlighting any risks that may arise, update daily / weekly reports and review against project delivery milestones, ensure build stage governance such as, but not exclusive to: in-life changes, SNN validation, Wayleaves, IT System and written updates, resolving on the day issues including complex build solutions and able to survey network extensions where trained, including accessing Openreach PIA Network. Stakeholder - Liaise with the public, dealing with any issues that the network construction activities may have caused, coach and support the build partner ensuring any blockers to the plan are highlighted and escalated appropriately, be a knowledgeable point of contact for support functions in Wildanet, Build Agents, the LA and others as appropriate and, represent Wildanet and its interests at site meetings for support functions. Support - Coach and support other internal teams to achieve business goals, OOHs working where required, detached duty to other regions or units where required, support with high level escalations, react to changing priorities to meet customer and commercial requirements, where applicable undertake lead roles/projects to support the team and, faulting where skilled and able. Additional responsibilities that may be asked infrequently but if within the capabilities of an accredited/competent Build Coordinator are: Soft Digs, Civils avoidance, Light Tree Cutting, Cabling (incl TRR), Splicing, Testing, Assisting in safety related activities e.g Confined Spaces or MEWPs and, Line management cover. Key Activities: While duties and responsibilities will vary, they typically include: Ensure safe working practices are in place and checked (validated). Owning build from partner issue to RFS and node level. Delivering a project’s scope and goals as agreed with Project Professional. Work with line Manger to schedule project timeline against milestone delivery. Coordinating engineering teams to deliver. Assure quality by daily site visits and checks in adherence to protocol. Carrying out risk assessments including ensuring sites are safe. Build administration, including updating necessary documentation as build progresses. Meeting budgetary objectives by contributing to ensure CPPP is achieved (or beaten) using innovative engineering alternatives. Reporting regularly to first line management in progress against plan. Managing build partner relationships to keep them on track versus pre agree plan (and goals). Support management to achieve the wider business goals. Using CEMAR to report defects and site issues. Completion of tasks as per NEC3 The role holder will represent our business in all that they do so they will need to demonstrate our passion for connecting Cornwall & Devon. Essential Person Specification Knowledge: Strong understanding of the PIA network, NRSWA legislation, HAUC Spec, Chapter 8 and NJUG. Knowledge of fibre splicing, testing, rodding and troubleshooting techniques. Familiarity with health and safety regulations for telecoms work. Understanding quality measures. Experience of large, multi-regional operations ideally gained within the telecommunications infrastructure environment. (desirable) Skills/Attributes: Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly in project area-specific challenges. Ability to work independently, making on-site decisions with confidence. Strong technical aptitude with attention to detail. Understands civil avoidance tools and techniques. Basic understanding of civil capabilities including SLG and TM. Competent and confident in knowledge of Excel. IT literate. Proven ability to lead / influence engineering teams. (desirable) Knowledge of Local Authorities road-works codes of practice. (desirable) Experience: Minimum 18 months experience in fibre build, including working in UG and OH network Demonstrated success in resolving complex site-specific challenges. Civils, Cabling and Network Activation experience along with good technical knowledge of fibre networks Trained to access chambers 3-5 years’ experience in telecommunications infrastructure delivery. (desirable) Qualifications: Relevant technical qualifications in fibre optics or telecommunications. Relevant BT/Openreach PIA accreditation. Valid driving license. NRSWA accredited. First Aid trained. (desirable) 5 x GCSE (if applicable. (desirable) Circumstances: Core working hours will be 7.5 hours between the hours of 8am-8pm Mon- Sat. There may be periods of extensive pressure to meet non-negotiable deadlines. This role is largely field based but may require some office work. Weekend working and OT may be required during periods of milestone delivery.
