Company: Little Bears Day Nursery & Pre-School

Job Description: Child Practitioner (Potentially leading to Deputy Management Responsibilities)

Type of Contract: Permanent/Full-time

Hours of Work: Shift rota basis, our opening hours are 07.30 to 18.00

Salary: £23,000 to £27,000

Start Date: TBC

Closing Date: 7th August 2025

Purpose of Position

Work effectively as a responsible professional team member working under the direction of Management, promoting the physical, holistic, educational, social and emotional welfare of all children in the Nursery & Pre-School

Duties and Responsibilities

Health and Safety/Environmental Health

· To be responsible to yourself and others from anything ranging from food hygiene to risk assessments

Child Development

· To assist with the creation of a stimulating and attractive environment & be responsible for the planning, preparation and implementation of a wide variety of activities, both indoors and outdoors that are suitable for the age and stage of development of the children

· Observations, monitoring, assessment and recording of the development of children

Policies and Procedures

· To ensure that relationships with children, parents and staff are conducted with respect to people's own gender, linguistic, cultural and religious persuasions, racial origin, age and disabilities

· To adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures

· To adhere and comply with the Children Act, Health and Safety Legislation and within the guidelines of OFSTED and the Statutory Framework.

· To ensure that Safeguarding Children is observed and adhered to at all times

Skills required:

· Able to effectively communicate in a professional manner with staff - to enable and promote team work and effective smooth running of the Nursery.

· Able to effectively communicate with children to reinforce the child's learning and communication

· Able to effectively communicate with parents/carers in a professional manner to allow a warm, informative hand over and build rapport To work as a reliable member of a team, developing professional positive relationships with colleagues, parents, children and outside agencies

It is essential that you: Hold at least an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent; Can demonstrate your commitment to children at all times ensuring safeguarding, wellbeing and development; Are an excellent communicator both verbally and in writing; Previous experience of working with children in early years and applying the EYFS.

Employment is dependent upon obtaining a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
