The Opportunity
QBE International is recruiting a Paralegal to join our growing Legal team in Leeds. This role offers an opportunity to develop a legal career within the insurance industry, gaining exposure to a wide range of legal areas and providing in‑house capability, comprising legal and administrative support to the QBE International Legal team.
Responsibilities
* Review a range of basic commercial agreements, including confidentiality agreements, supplier terms and conditions, engagement letters, and IT and supplier contracts.
* Work with lawyers on diverse legal areas such as corporate, commercial, insurance, finance/treasury, people, marketing, and IT.
* Assist with major legal projects and coordinate actions, including supporting the Claims team with CCJs.
* Handle general legal and non‑legal queries (e.g., correct legal entity, signing of documents).
* Undertake legal research and document preparation.
* Work with the Legal Operations team, including updating intranet and online filing systems and supporting reporting requirements.
* Utilise legal software and technology.
* Support professional development by staying updated with changes in laws and regulations and participating in relevant activities.
* Play an active role in the development of procedures within the International Legal Team and keep them up to date.
* Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.
Qualifications
* Experience supporting legal, commercial, or operational activities within a legal or professional services environment.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
* A practical approach to work and problem‑solving.
* Confidence to act independently and make decisions within your level of competence, recognising when to seek guidance.
* Sound knowledge of MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Copilot.
* Strong IT skills and an interest in legal technology.
* A team player with a proactive and collaborative mindset.
