Who You Are You are a dedicated and conscientious individual ready to provide high-quality grounds maintenance services in public parks, schools, playing fields, and landscaped areas. You can work with minimal supervision, accept responsibility for directing the work of trainees and other employees, and have a sound understanding of health and safety legislation. You are physically fit, hold a full UK driver's license, and live in Carmarthenshire. You are available to work 43 hours per week from April 1st to October, with a reduction to 31 hours from October 1st to April. What the Job Involves The role involves undertaking general maintenance of allocated areas, such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, and sports area maintenance. You will interpret plans, prepare sites, clean public buildings, use handheld and powered tools, operate tractors, and ensure all activities follow health and safety policies. You will also conduct visual inspections of playground equipment and apply pesticides safely. The role requires flexibility to undertake additional duties within the Environment Department as needed. Skills Ability to work unsupervised and under own initiative Task and duty allocation with compliance to set timescales Driving and trailer towing capability Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation Familiarity with COSHH Regulations Experience with hand tools, vibrating machinery, and light plant Gardening and grounds maintenance experience Strong team player and communication skills Welsh spoken (Level 2) and written (Level 1) English spoken (Level 3) and written (Level 3) Desirable: NPTC PA6A certification and first aid skills
