I am looking for an Automation Scientist to join my client, a Bristol-based biotech developing next-gen IVDs for bloodstream infections.
What you'll be doing?
As a Automation Scientist, youll run and optimise end-to-end sequencing workflows, including Nanopore library prep and flow cell loading. You'll manage lab automation using liquid handling robots (e.g. OpenTrons), maintain Python scripts, and troubleshoot technical issues.
You will work closely with lab technicians, guiding SOP-driven processes, ensuring accurate data tracking, and helping to improve efficiency, reliability, and quality. You'll also collaborate with cross-functional teams to support broader technical goals.
What they are looking for?
Were looking for a detail-oriented, hands-on Automation Scientist who can thrive in high-throughput lab environments. They are looking for someone who has strong experience in sequencing, sample prep, and lab automation, with the ability to troubleshoot and improve workflows.
A PhD or equivalent experience in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field is preferred. Key skills include robotic liquid handling, Python scripting, SOP adherence, and lab documentation. Experience with OpenTrons, LIMS, and diagnostic lab settings (e.g. Lighthouse Labs) is a plus.
