Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant: Support pupils with SEND and associated needs, including SEMH and ADHD, to access learning. Assist with structured routines, behaviour support, and emotional regulation strategies. Work with staff to deliver tailored interventions that match pupils’ individual needs. Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to help pupils develop confidence and independence. Help implement personalised plans and record progress effectively. Encourage positive engagement, resilience and readiness for learning. Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals as required. Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant: Experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly SEMH or behavioural needs. Calm, patient and consistent when helping pupils manage emotions and behaviour. Able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who have had disrupted educational experiences. Confident using strategies to support communication, regulation and engagement.
