About the role
Are you passionate about demonstrating the real-world impact of research? Do you have experience managing complex projects, crafting compelling case studies, and communicating with a wide range of stakeholders? Join Imperial College London as the Research Excellence Framework (REF) Impact Manager and play a pivotal role in shaping our REF 2029 submission. Building on our REF 2021 success as the UK's top university for research outputs and research environment, this role offers an opportunity to lead on sourcing and analysing evidence of research impact, manage cross-university projects, and work closely with colleagues across the University to showcase how Imperial's research is making a difference globally.
What you would be doing
As the REF Impact Manager, you will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of impact-related elements of Imperial's REF 2029 submission. You'll manage the sourcing and analysis of research impact evidence, and contribute to the development of compelling, evidence-based statements at both institutional and disciplinary level. You will interpret REF guidance and advise on policy and compliance matters, ensuring content is accurate, accessible, and audit ready. You'll work closely with stakeholders across the University including Faculties, ICT, HR, the Library and the Office of the Vice-Provost (Research and Enterprise). You will also line manage a REF Senior Impact Officer, contributing to a strong, collaborative team committed to delivering a world-class submission.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a research-intensive and collaborative environment. To be successful in the role, you will:
* Have experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects and developing high-quality, evidence-based written materials, such as reports, briefings and case studies.
* Be skilled in sourcing, analysing and interpreting both qualitative and quantitative data, particularly related to research impact.
* Be confident in translating complex information into clear, accessible and engaging narratives tailored to different audiences.
* Possess excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload under pressure and to tight deadlines.
* Be a collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across a wide range of stakeholders.
What we can offer you
* The opportunity to start or continue your career at a world-leading institution and be part of our mission to use science for humanity.
* Work with a great Planning and Insight team with the opportunity to build connections across the university.
* Benefit from a sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 41 days' annual leave and generous pension schemes).
* Access to a range of workplace benefits including a flexible working policy from day one, generous family leave packages, on-site leisure facilities and cycle-to-work scheme.
* Interest-free season ticket loan schemes for travel.
* Be part of a diverse, inclusive and collaborative work culture with various staff networks and resources to support your personal and professional wellbeing.
