As we continue to grow and transform, we're looking for a Cost Controller to join our SP Transmission Commercial & Performance team. This role is key in ensuring our financial processes are accurate, efficient and fully aligned with our governance standards.
What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Commercial & Performance Manager, you'll support the full cycle of internal cost control across the SPT business. Working closely with project teams, Finance, and external agency partners, your work will help ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting across over 700 employees and contractors.
In this role, you will:
* Manage and monitor internal time‑writing hours, ensuring timely and accurate updates across SPT teams
* Prepare and analyse cost reporting, including detailed variance analysis for senior management
* Manage the agency cost payment process, identifying and resolving discrepancies
* Produce monthly commercial and governance reports, including scorecards and performance insights
* Prepare agency transfer journals in collaboration with the Control team
* Support cost forecasting activities and monthly reporting cycles
* Review and maintain cost control processes, identifying improvements
* Validate inter‑business journals and ensure alignment with governance requirements
* Provide training and support to internal teams on cost processes when required
What you'll bring
You'll be someone who is organised, analytical and confident working with high volumes of financial data. You should have:
* A Financial Accounting certificate, HNC or equivalent experience
* Strong Excel skills and experience using SAP/NAMS/PM/PPM
* A background in a financial or cost‑related role
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships
* Experience producing clear and accurate reporting
* Flexibility, attention to detail and a proactive, target‑driven mindset
