Midlothian Council is recruiting a Children and Families Practitioner to join its small but progressive UASC team.
The role involves working collaboratively with other social work professionals and external agencies to ensure the best possible support for these vulnerable young people.
Knowledge
Essential
* Educated to HNC social care and SVQ Level 3 (children and young people) or equivalent with a relevant discipline.
* Experience of working with the national and local practice, policy, procedures, and legislation relevant to the post, including awareness of the SSSC Code of Practice, Human Rights legislation, United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and 'Getting it right for every child'.
* Experience working with children and families, including child development and trauma-based interventions.
* Knowledge of systemic interventions and methodologies such as attachment promotion, trauma therapy, child development, and parenting capacity.
* Understanding of the roles and responsibilities of key agencies.
Desirable
* Knowledge of immigration legislation as it impacts UASC.
* Specialist experience working with children and families in crisis or at risk.
* Behavioural interview skills.

Note: Successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale, with a minimum salary of £37,618.22 per annum based on a 36-hour week over 52 weeks.
