SEN Home Tutor About the Role
Academics are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Home Tutor to support children and young people who are educated outside of a mainstream school setting. This role involves delivering tailored academic support in a home or community-based environment, helping learners re-engage with education and build confidence.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver personalised 1:1 academic tuition in subjects such as English, Maths, and/or Functional Skills
* Adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, anxiety, and learning difficulties
* Plan engaging, structured sessions aligned with individual learning plans
* Support emotional regulation, motivation, and positive learning behaviours
* Track progress and provide regular feedback to parents/carers and relevant professionals
* Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements
* Experience working with children or young people with SEN (education, tutoring, care, or support roles)
* Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and trauma-informed practice
* Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
* Ability to work independently in out-of-school settings
* Relevant teaching/tutoring qualification or QTS (desirable but not essential)
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
* Right to work in the UK and ability to travel within the Maidstone area
