Job Description

We are currently recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to support secondary schools across Chester, with a range of full-time and part-time opportunities available.

With demand high across a variety of schools, this is a fantastic opportunity to secure regular work in a rewarding and supportive environment.

The Role

1. Supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
2. Working 1:1 and in small groups
3. Assisting with learning, behaviour and emotional support
4. Helping students to stay engaged and access the curriculum
5. Working closely with teaching staff and SEN teams

6. Experience working with SEND pupils or young people
7. OR a background in care, support work or similar settings
8. Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Job Specification

Teaching, Learning or Classroom Assistants are now vital resources for teachers and are heavily relied upon in schools.

We specialise in recruiting Teaching Assistants (TA) who are qualified in the following;

15. NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant
16. NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant
17. Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
18. CACHE Level 3 in Childcare & Education
19. BTEC National Certificate in Childhood Studies (Nursery Nursing).

We’ll also consider experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) who have previously held a job in a primary school or assisted a pupil in the role in a secondary school but do not hold any of the above qualifications.

Jobs in additional learning needs (ALN)

A large number of our jobs are in ALN and we fill many vacancies in schools with candidates who have particular experience in working with children classified as having:

20. Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
21. Dyslexia
22. Dyspraxia
23. Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI)
24. Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
25. Profound and Moderate Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
26. Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)
27. Severe Learning Difficulties
28. Physical Disabilities (PD).

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:

29. Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
30. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
31. Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
32. Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
33. Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
