Responsibilities

* Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures
* Maintain a safe and clean working environment
* Undertake a wide range of diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, visual fields, intra-ocular pressures following the completion of a robust training program
* Support care for patients with eye emergencies, both during the working day and in regular overnight on-calls to support the medical team
* Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept
* Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information
* Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient
* Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct and The Trust's Values (kindness, openness, excellence)
* Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands
* Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures
* Interviews for this position will be held in person ONLY at the hospital site. Remote interviews will not be available

DBS Checks
Please be aware that all new employees starting work with us will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary either in 1 payment or over a six month period once you start employment. By applying you are agreeing to this undertaking. If you are successful you will be asked to confirm if you wish to pay in one amount or in instalments. The charges are currently £27.38 for a standard check and £55.38 for an enhanced check. The level of check will be determined by the post you are applying for.

Relocation Package
The Trust offers a generous relocation package of up to 30% of salary (capped at £18k) to support with relocation expenses for hard to fill positions where relocation would be an expectation to undertake the role fully.
