Interviews for this post are due to take place on 10th October 2025. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant to join the Rheumatology team at SWFT. The post is based at Warwick Hospital, with some outpatient clinics held at Stratford upon Avon Hospital. There is non on call commitment. You will be joining our friendly and dynamic team of 8 Consultants, 5 Rheumatology Clinical Nurse Specialists, 1 Physiotherapist and 1 Pharmacist.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative and dedicated individual keen to add to our drive to deliver high-quality Rheumatology services for our local population. Please refer to the JDPS for the main responsibilities of this role. The successful candidate will be supported in developing subspecialty interests and will be actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. You will be required to have appropriate experience in Rheumatology and hold or be within 6 months of obtaining certification from the General Medical Council (CCT).
Main duties of the job include administrative duties directly associated with the care of patients and the running of clinics, with the opportunity to develop a specialist interest.
Responsibilities
* Supervision of patients receiving day case infusions
* Seeing ward referrals from other team
* Clinical supervisor for trainee doctors and nurse specialists
* Involvement in departmental teaching of trainees and other health professionals
* Active part in Audit and Clinical Governance
* Involvement of teaching of undergraduate medical students will be encouraged

Person specification
Physical requirements – Essential: Satisfactory Occupational Health Clearance.
* Professional Experience – Essential: CCT in Rheumatology via an approved training programme (or within 6 months of CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for the Specialist Register in Rheumatology (CESR Programme). Expressed interest in undergraduate and postgraduate education. Must hold GMC Registration.
Desirable: Demonstrable commitment to teaching and mentoring, desire to develop a Specialist Interest, Musculoskeletal Ultrasound competencies, and support for GIM educational supervision for trainees.
* Academic Achievements – Essential: MRCP or equivalent, MBChB or equivalent.
* Desirable: Research experience and/or higher qualifications, additional relevant qualifications.
* Research, Audit and Clinical Governance – Essential: Proven experience in undertaking Clinical Audit and Governance; able to demonstrate skills in Audit and Clinical Governance activities.
* Desirable: Research experience, publications in rheumatology or related fields.
* Personal qualities – Essential: Good verbal and written communication, strong team leadership, good interpersonal skills, reliability, ability to work under pressure and flexibly, willingness to travel to different hospitals in the Warwickshire area; ability in Audit and Clinical Governance activities.
* Desirable: Innovative, able to plan new service developments, IT skills; Personal circumstances – Car owner and driver.
