Job Description:
We are seeking a multimedia journalist to join CambridgeshireLive in Cambridge. The role involves writing and developing stories with compelling pictures and engaging videos, delivering quick turnarounds on local community stories that attract readers and differentiate us from competitors. Content must be researched and published in line with the Editor’s Code of Practice. The ideal candidate will be adept with digital formats and social media to identify breaking news swiftly.
Qualifications
Applicants should have an NCTJ or equivalent qualification and media law knowledge. Trainees with NCTJ preliminary or equivalent qualifications are also encouraged to apply. The candidate should be confident, bold, and comfortable with face-to-face interactions, and possess strong contacts within the industry. Excellent editing, writing, and subbing skills are essential, along with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Social media proficiency, current SEO knowledge, and familiarity with newsroom analytics and content management systems are preferred. Flexibility, curiosity, and a keen sense of newsworthiness are important traits.
