Service Lead - Addictions Permanent Grade 6 - £52,413 - £64,811 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review Working 36.5.hours per week Location: Council House, Victoria Square, Birmingham, B1 About Us We have an exciting opportunity to join our large and ambitious multi-disciplinary public health team in a permeant role managing and leading the Addictions agenda. This includes leading a large programme of substance misuse commissioning for adults, children and young people, along with the development of public health approaches to the harms caused by gambling. All programmes aim to improve health and wellbeing and reduce inequalities amongst Birmingham’s large and diverse population. The Public Health Division is part of the Adult Social Care and Health Directorate of Birmingham City Council. The Role This role will work to the Assistant Director of Public Health and lead a small team of officers. It will work with commissioners in Adult Social Care, local councillors, national and regional government and across partners in health, criminal justice and specialist treatment services, the community and voluntary sector, recovery organisations and with those who have lived experience. This role will use national and local policy, strategy and guidance, expert knowledge, and evidence to develop, deliver and review plans aimed at reducing the harms of drugs, alcohol, and gambling. This role will lead responses to incidents, remaining focused and working in an agile way with partners to protect the health of the population. Skills & Experience Postholder's must have an expert working knowledge of the implementation of drug and alcohol policy and treatment. They must be able to lead a team to deliver high quality and detailed reports of progress against their programme commitments, internally and externally. They must be able to manage multiple and competing relationships with national government, with providers of services and with public sector partners. The post holders must have significant experience of developing evidence-based plans, of commissioning, of monitoring performance. The post holder will have technical public health skills including compiling and reviewing evidence and data, developing specifications, implementing quality improvement and consulting with stakeholders.
