We’re looking for an experienced and people-focused leader to join us as a National People Manager on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. This role supports our Home Delivery Network and a range of customer accounts across the UK.
You’ll lead a team of three direct reports and work closely with colleagues located nationwide, ensuring consistent people support and engagement across diverse locations. The role will require regular travel, but there is flexibility on base location – either North or South.
We’re currently going through a period of change, so experience in navigating and supporting transformation is essential. The ideal candidate will bring strong stakeholder management, a collaborative approach, and a passion for driving people initiatives that make a real impact.
What will you be doing as a People Manager?
1. Lead and manage a team of three Site People Advisors across national sites and customer contracts.
2. Provide strategic and operational HR support to the Home Delivery Network and various customer accounts.
3. Act as a key partner to operational leaders, driving employee engagement, wellbeing, and performance.
4. Manage change initiatives such as restructures, redundancies, and TUPE transfers.
5. Own the annual Engagement Survey data and support action planning across the region.
6. Champion diversity, inclusion, and development across the network.
7. Ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures across all sites.
8. Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve complex ER cases and drive proactive people solutions.
9. Support recruitment, onboarding, and talent development activities.
10. Maintain visibility across the network through regular travel.
What skills and experience will you bring to the role?
11. A proven HR leader with experience managing multi-site teams and supporting national contracts.
12. Strong background in leading through change, including restructures, redundancies, and TUPE processes.
13. Confident in interpreting and using People data to drive decisions and improve KPIs such as attrition and absence.
14. Skilled in building trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
15. Experienced in handling complex ER cases and providing strategic guidance on people matters.
16. Passionate about employee engagement, wellbeing, and inclusion, with a track record of delivering initiatives in these areas.
17. Able to travel regularly across the UK.
18. CIPD qualified (Level 5 or above) or equivalent experience.
