Senior SCADA Engineer – HVDC team, Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. Hybrid role combining site and office work, full‑time position.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop a secure network architecture for SCADA/HMI systems for AC substation and HVDC projects.
- Provide hands‑on experience with IT infrastructure: routers, firewalls, switches, servers, and workstations, including basic networking.
- Review documentation from suppliers during project execution.
- Lead discussions with customers and coordinate with various suppliers to support key technical configurations.
- Maintain and build a collaborative environment with all stakeholders throughout project execution.
- Coordinate and plan site activities in partnership with different suppliers.
- Evaluate and strengthen security of connections to DCS/SCADA/HMI networks.
- Lead automation projects and mentor the team on business requirements.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external customers to ensure delivery meets their requirements and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Control, or Communication Engineering.
- Proven experience in SCADA/HMI application development using Micro SCADA or Zenon SCADA software.
- Hands‑on experience with Micro SCADA and substation automation solutions and products.
- Understanding of UK electricity industry standards, including National Grid, SSE/SPEN, and DNO standards.
- Excellent design capability and experience in control system engineering.
- High level of understanding of relevant communication protocols and computer interfaces: MODBUS, DNP3, IEC 61850, IEC 60870, and associated network equipment.
