Your new role
This is a hands‑on Company Accountant role, taking full ownership of the day‑to‑day finance function and working closely with senior leadership. You'll be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial processes, while also providing meaningful management information to support strategic decisions.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Managing the day‑to‑day finance function using Xero
2. Preparing monthly management accounts with clear commentary
3. Overseeing purchase ledger and sales ledger activities
4. Completing regular bank reconciliations
5. Preparing and submitting VAT returns, ensuring HMRC compliance
6. Managing prepayments, accruals and inter‑company recharges
7. Supporting month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end processes
8. Providing financial analysis to support commercial and operational decisions
9. Identifying and implementing process improvements within the finance function
What you'll need to succeed
10. Proven experience as a Company Accountant or Management Accountant
11. Strong working knowledge of Xero and Microsoft Excel
12. A solid understanding of UK accounting standards and VAT
13. High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
14. A commercially aware mindset with good analytical capability
15. Confidence communicating with and supporting senior stakeholders
Experience within retail or e‑commerce environments would be beneficial but is not essential.
