Senior Rotational Dietitian

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Dietitian to join our Dietetic Team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals (STH). We offer a permanent full‑time Band 6 rotation covering a wide range of clinical areas across Royal Hallamshire, Northern General, Weston Park and community sites. Specialities include Oncology, Head and Neck Cancer, Gastroenterology, Diabetes, Critical Care, Burns, Upper GI & HPB Surgery, Haematology, CF, Renal, HEF and Stroke. This is a rotational post; you may be based at any site.
Main duties of the job
* Deliver nutrition teaching within a number of training programmes and provide training to A, B & C placement students.
* Provide a high‑quality Dietetic service to a clinical caseload in a designated speciality, working as an independent practitioner.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence‑based clinical and teaching practice.
* Provide specialist advice and education in the designated speciality.
* Assist the Dietetic team with the operational management of the department.
* Support the Dietetic management team to ensure the overall service delivers high‑quality patient care, and manage clinical governance, resources and equipment.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* BSc Nutrition and Dietetics or Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics
* Current HCPC registration
* BDA‑accredited clinical supervisory skills course for training students
* BDA‑accredited behavioural change, counselling, motivational and cognitive behavioural skills course
Personal Qualities
* Positive and proactive
* Flexible
* Ability to deal with conflict, aggression (infrequently)
* Ability to deal with distressed patients and carers
* Valid driving licence or access to alternative transport
Skills and Knowledge
* Accurate documentation and record keeping in line with national standards
* Familiarity with and ability to operate all necessary IT packages (e.g., email, Word, dietary analysis, PowerPoint)
* Capability to record activity and other data manually and electronically
* Develop educational resources to meet the varying needs of clients and carers, evidence‑based
* Aware of clinical governance and its implications for dietetics, including audit projects
* Use literature review search methods and critically appraise evidence
* Knowledge of regulatory bodies and professional bodies codes of practice and professional guidelines
* Competence in teaching and training other health care professionals and student Dietitians
* Manage a caseload with frequently changing priorities and deal with interruptions
* Work as an integral member of an MDT and as an autonomous practitioner
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and team‑working skills
* Clear communication at all levels with patients, colleagues and MDT members
Experience
* Substantial dietetic experience in a variety of clinical specialities
* Evidence of independent working
* High level of knowledge of a range of clinical conditions and current best practice for dietetic management, especially Nutrition Support
* Competence in behavioural change skills
* Evidence of continuing professional and personal development and commitment to appraise through the department appraisal system
* Willingness to undergo further training at post‑registration level
* Experience working in an acute hospital setting

Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time staff).
