Business Development Account Director – MOD Enterprise Lead (AECOM, Hampshire, England, UK)

Key aspects of the role:
* Leadership role on the AECOM Defence Leadership Team, reporting to the Head of Defence UK Europe & India.
* Requires an active UK Security Clearance or the ability to obtain UK SC level clearance; support for clearance is provided.
* Regular travel to London and other UK offices required.
* Key responsibilities include building strategic relationships, leading capture management, and driving business development and growth across the UK MOD Enterprise portfolio.
What You’ll Do
Leadership
* Provide leadership for UK MOD Enterprise accounts, reporting to the Head of Defence for UK Europe & India.
* Maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, including business units, end markets, CAMs, commercial work‑winning teams, and strategic marketing & communications.
* Build relationships with counterparts across AECOM’s geographies (e.g., US DoD) and contribute to global defence equipment programmes.
* Accountable for setting and implementing UK MOD Enterprise account business strategies, objectives, and financial outcomes.
Sales and Growth
* Develop regional growth and business development defence strategy, set growth targets, and prioritise pursuits in collaboration with the Defence Leadership Team, Operating Unit Leaders, and CAMs across all business lines.
* Collaborate with marketing and capture managers to deliver professional services and business compliance aligned to the defence growth strategy.
* Build, monitor, and orchestrate sales pipeline activities across the defence portfolio to evaluate opportunities.
* Maintain awareness of defence and security challenges and use this knowledge to focus on sales activities.
* Lead the coordination of team formation for major pursuits and mobilisation.
* Analyse and understand short‑, medium‑, and long‑term UK MOD Enterprise opportunities to advise strategic planning and pursuit prioritisation.
* Leverage global AECOM capabilities and expertise in major pursuits.
* Apply discipline to the Go/No‑Go process and capture management planning phase.
* Work with marketing to develop and execute strategic marketing campaigns around key opportunities.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be an outstanding leader with extensive and relevant UK MOD experience at a senior level, in a fast‑paced and complex commercial environment.
Required:
* Senior-level experience in infrastructure advisory or comparable consulting, professional services, or engineering business selling into the defence sector.
* In‑depth knowledge of the UK defence sector, including government departments, agencies, industry frameworks, and major OEMs/suppliers to the UK MOD.
* Demonstrable experience leading and securing individual consulting or professional service contract awards/wins in the region of $5m to $20m, and experience with larger CCS/MCF-type frameworks favoured by the UK MOD.
* Strong network into the UK MOD and wider defence and security sector, including OEM senior stakeholders.
* Sales production metrics, business development strategy, team leadership, client discovery, and development of compelling value propositions.
