Overview
We're looking for an experienced Assistant Merchandiser to join our Branded Merchandising team!
As an Assistant Merchandiser, you will support the Merchandiser in managing our numerous Concession partners who range across various product categories within our stores, helping to land new and existing initiatives to achieve our sales and profit plans. Drive timely & accurate actions to support and carry out the planning, product setup and promotion administration and to work closely with partners to deliver to best product, at the best price at the right time.
Responsibilities
* Day to day management of our concession partners, building good working relationships with partners and working with junior category manager to ensure effective and speedy response and resolution to any queries.
* Attend regular trade and operational meetings, collating and presenting trade & performance information and managing actions on any opportunities or risks/issues identified.
* WSSI management, planning and forecasting sales & profit and aligning with partner plans.
* Maintain the concessions trading calendar, with promotional activity in line with the sales plan & successful historic events and aligning to company promotions where suitable.
* Ensure space plans and linear are accurate and adhered to by brand/partners, working with retail and branch merchandising to ensure accurate sales and margin per linear reporting, and recommending actions to drive strong linear performance.
* Take an active role within strategy planning and meetings, displaying your understanding of lessons learnt and how to move forward.
* Work with merchandiser on building P&Ls to understand concession partners profitability, reviewing with finance and retail to ensure everything is accounted to provide accurate profitability information in steer co’s.
* Manage the full E2E process to set up concessions, from supplier set up in NOVA to product uploads and daily sales files, supporting suppliers in any issues they may experience, troubleshooting and escalating with IT quickly where required.
* Monitor product availability through reporting and feedback from partners and retail teams, ensuring optimum availability to achieve sales and communicating potential issues to management to highlight risk, proposing mitigating actions.
* Matalan store visits – regular visits to ensure standards and product ranges from partners are meeting expectations in line with strategy and to keep up to speed with wider business initiatives.
* Create sound working relationships with key functions across the business such as Retail, Space planning, finance and IT, to ensure alignment across Matalan on the E2E process.
* Act as a role model for personal growth whilst supporting and encouraging career development and progression
Qualifications
* Proven experience of working as an Assistant Merchandiser within a fashion and/or retail environment
* Knowledge of concessions desirable but not essential
* Ability to think commercially
* Strong analytical skills
* Experience of development & coaching
* Ability to work independently with a proactive mindset
* Excellent Interpersonal skills, with the ability and confidence to communicate at all levels
