Overview
We recruit graduates for civil, structural and highways engineering across Gloucestershire, Lincoln, Norfolk, Exeter and Cardiff. You will support local authorities delivering transport, regeneration, flood risk and infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities vary by location, but typically include:
* Inspecting and assessing existing structures.
* Producing option reports and technical documents.
* Designing bridge maintenance, road improvement and drainage schemes.
* Administering project scoping, cost plans and contracts.
* Co‑ordinating with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and clients.
* Managing projects from concept through to construction and hand‑over.
Day‑to‑Day Activities by Location
Gloucestershire – Bridge Engineering
* Inspect existing structures and assess bridge maintenance needs.
* Develop design, works packages and contract documents.
* Supervise works and support asset management plans.
Lincoln – Highways Engineering
* Conduct investigations, site inspections and data analysis.
* Prepare designs, technical documents and drawings.
* Coordinate and report on progress to senior staff.
Cardiff (RCT) – Structures & Civil Infrastructure Engineering
* Inspect infrastructure and perform preliminary calculations.
* Write optioneering and feasibility studies.
* Learn drainage modelling and AutoCAD design.
Exeter – Highways & Structures Engineering
* Prepare drawings, schedules, reports and other documentation.
* Design new and replacement bridges and retaining walls.
* Support client projects through the entire life cycle.
Norfolk – Highways & Structures Engineering
* Plan and draft highway improvements and structural maintenance.
* Assist with on‑site inspections and evaluations.
* Prepare technical documentation for compliance and tracking.
Graduate Development Programme
The two‑year programme supports learning through blended training, workshops, networking, mentoring and professional registration support. You will be encouraged to achieve chartered status with ICE or IStructE, with enrollment in a professional institution’s training agreement.
What We Are Looking For
• 2:1 or equivalent honours degree in civil, structural, environmental or related engineering.
• Willingness to start work in either April or September 2026.
• Passion for consulting, engineering and the built environment.
• Creative problem‑solving skills and enthusiasm for innovation.
• Strong communication, teamwork and stakeholder engagement.
