Overview

7 Force Commercial Services – Supplier Relationship Manager – Operations and Community Services (Cambs). This is a permanent, full-time role reporting to the 7F Head of Category Management. Location: Dependent on applicant’s location, can be based anywhere across the 7 Forces.

Location flexibility and opportunity to support the 7 police forces across the east of England (Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Norfolk, and Suffolk). The collaboration manages third party spend of approximately £250m per annum, enabling market shaping and economies of scale to secure savings and broader social, economic, and environmental benefits.

Salary: £53,667 with a Market Rate Supplement of £4,000. Benefits: 37 hours per week.


Responsibilities

* Develop and manage the commercial relationship with a designated portfolio of strategic suppliers to ensure value for money for the 7 Forces.
* Lead and/or support complex commercial negotiations with key suppliers, promote innovation, and achieve best value.
* Address and enforce sanctions for poor performance and defend the relevant Force(s) from contractual claims.
* Engage a range of internal stakeholders at varying levels of seniority to drive supplier relationship management.
* Provide innovative thinking to drive change and develop an integrated commercial and contract management function across the seven forces.
* Utilise strong analytical, organisational, time management, and project management skills to deliver results by agreed deadlines.
* Travel as required throughout the UK.


Qualifications and Experience

* MCIPS Level 6 or clear evidence of equivalent experience, knowledge, and expertise as a commercially focused procurement professional in a complex public sector organisation.
* Significant knowledge of current contract law and the application of EU Public Procurement Regulations and legislation.
* Strong commercial acumen with proven success in supplier relationship management, negotiations, and resolving contractual disputes.
* Strong interpersonal, negotiation, influencing, and communication skills capable of engaging internal stakeholders and external partners.
* Ability to engage staff/officers at all levels and influence stakeholders within the 7 Forces and external organisations.
* Good organisational, time management, and project management skills to deliver results to deadlines.

Additional Information

The postholder will be employed by 7 Forces Commercial Services, but the base location could be within any of the seven police forces listed above and is open to candidates across all regions. Applications from internal ‘at risk’ staff will be prioritised and receive preference in any selection process.

Vetting level: Management MV and Security Clearance. Candidates will be required to undertake appropriate level security vetting checks, including the requirement to have lived in the UK for the past three years (RV) or five years (MV) from the date of application.
