CarmichaelUK is supporting a major civil engineering contractor delivering a complex road viaduct project spanning both live rail and a river environment. We are seeking an experienced Structures Site Agent or Project Manager with a strong background in heavy civils, structural concrete/steelwork, and multi‑discipline interface management.
The Role:
You will lead the structures delivery package, ensuring safe, efficient and high‑quality execution of:
Reinforced concrete piers, abutments, decks, bearings, formwork and falsework
Steelwork installation and complex temporary works
Works adjacent to and over live rail, including rail‑specific safety and possession planning
River works including foundations, cofferdams, piling, access, and environmental controls
Interface management between structures, rail, earthworks, utilities and temporary works
Key responsibilities include:
Ownership of programme, sequencing, and delivery strategy for the structures works
Producing and reviewing detailed method statements, lifting plans, work packs and risk assessments
Leading subcontractor coordination (structures, temporary works, steelwork, piling, rail access, marine works)
Ensuring high levels of quality assurance, ITP compliance, as‑built records and technical reporting
Managing interface meetings with designers, clients, rail teams and environmental stakeholders
Driving safety performance through briefings, inspections and leading by example
Providing technical leadership to Site Engineers and Supervisors
About You:
Strong experience as a Site Agent / Sub Agent / Project Manager on major structures projects
Proven delivery of a large structures eg. bridges, viaducts, RC structures, steel structures, and temporary works
Experience managing works over water, cofferdams, piling, and complex foundations
Strong organisational and communication skills, able to work under pressure in a complex, multi‑discipline environment
Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality, buildability and safe delivery
CSCS, SMSTS; TWC/TWS preferred
