Job Summary
Medical Secretary (6‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract) – part‑time (15–30hrs/week). Provide secretarial support to paediatricians and ADHD practitioners at Derby Court and St Martins Hospital (Kempthorne House).
Key Responsibilities
* Accurately transcribe dictated medical reports using a digital dictation system.
* Prepare and forward clinical correspondence and health reports within required deadlines.
* Liaise with external and internal professionals to support effective communication.
* Manage shared Outlook mailboxes and team task lists.
* Act as a key point of contact for clinical staff and provide administrative support.
* Use Microsoft Office and in‑house clinical database systems confidently.
Qualifications & Experience
* Proven experience in digital audio typing and managing a busy workload.
* Strong IT skills – confident use of Word, Outlook, Excel and database systems.
* Experience maintaining electronic records in line with Data Protection and Caldicott principles.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to handle sensitive information.
* Highly organised, able to prioritise and meet deadlines under pressure.
* Professional, approachable and able to build effective working relationships.
* Ability to travel between base locations and access to a car.
Desirable
* Prior medical secretary role and medical terminology knowledge.
* Audio typing qualification.
* Experience with Lexacom or similar digital dictation systems.
