Project Engineer
Position Summary
The Project Engineer is responsible for managing engineering projects related to new equipment installations, process improvements, equipment modifications, and operational troubleshooting. This role provides hands-on technical support and engineering expertise to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget while delivering long-term value to the plant.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage engineering projects from concept through completion, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, productivity, and cost objectives.
* Provide technical expertise and problem-solving support to plant operations and maintenance teams.
* Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets; track costs and ensure projects are delivered at or below approved budgets.
* Prepare and submit justification and obtain approval for any anticipated budget overruns prior to exceeding authorized spend.
* Partner with vendors and contractors to develop cost-effective, reliable engineering solutions.
* Procure materials and services to support timely project execution.
* Evaluate project execution to ensure compliance with safety standards and that all personnel are adequately protected.
* Coordinate and monitor contractor activities, verifying progress, quality of work, and costs.
* Collaborate with cross-functional plant departments to identify, design, and implement improvement projects.
* Schedule and coordinate internal labor and maintenance resources for projects and equipment overhauls.
* Identify and report potential operating issues affecting safety, environmental compliance, production, or waste.
* Support maintenance teams in resolving operational and equipment-related issues.
* Communicate project status, timelines, and requirements to management and key stakeholders.
* Maintain accurate engineering documentation, including updating existing drawings and creating new drawings as required.
Education & Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
* 3–5 years of engineering experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
* Strong project planning and execution skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, SAP, Maximo, and AutoCAD.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* PMP certification preferred.
